MINJAR FESTIVAL

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.
With every raindrop and the beautiful weather around I go down the memory lane. Memories of colourful the 'Minjar festival', fill my mind. The International 'Minjar Festival' takes place every year at around this time of the year in July-Aug period in the magestic valley of  the district of Chamba.
Chamba is a Hill town in Himachal Pradesh and is a beautiful tourist destination.

My paternal relatives belong to this town which posesses beauty beyond words. The annual 'Minjar Fair' organised here is held in a big green lush ground known as the 'Chowgan Ground'.
People travel from far and wide to see and witness the festivity attached to this grand fair.
The town seems to be decorated like a young bride and the hills look even more lush green.
'Minjar' means a silken thread which symbolises the celebration of harvesting.

The beginning of the fair is colourfully Magical and the end is Divine.
On the last day a 'Jaatar' or a procession of the Divinity takes place with great pomp and show.
Folk music and dances of the area with a musical parade brings an end to the much awaited, attented and enjoyed 'Minjar Festival'.
Every one prays for the happiness and wellness of their loved ones and for humanity as a whole.
With a smile on every face, people bid farewell to each other with a hope and a wish to meet and greet again next year .
My paternal grandfather too used to send me the 'Minjar Thread' every year. I too used to always keep it in the form of his blessings to me and like a loving gift from the land of magical hills.

Believe in Yourself

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.
'I' can be a very strong power. The power to motivate oneself. The power which keeps oneself going strong even after a set back or a downfall in life.
The outside workforce can act as a motivational force but the inner strength of self-motivating oneself with the power of 'I', is like a light of lamp in the darkness of life.
'I' can do what 'I' have thought to do is the mantra for success.
Outside sources can help us or encourage us till a point but the relevance is our own 'self'.
The self which really wants to work hard and put in all personal efforts.

The determination of 'I' is the strongest asset one can have.
I can keep my hope alive till I wish and want to keep it.
Though in this context the struggle is really very hard but with a powerful push of 'I' the impossible mission can also turn into a 'Mission Possible'.
So let us keep the hope of 'I' always alive.
Wonders cannot happen on its own, it is the power of 'I', 'myself', 'my' and 'me' which can surely make wonders happen with a magical power.

A Productive mind is a Progressive mind.

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.

When our mind only thinks of productive things, it is always on the line of progress.
Infact a productive mind shall always work towards the direction of self enhancement and growth.
This growth can be at both professional or personal fronts. A productive mind is always at peace to think constructively in life.
It will not have extra time to think and waste in irrelevant talks and discussions.
It will only concentrate on positivity and swiftly move towards the path of achievements and accomplishments in it's set aim of life.
The mind plays the most essential role in directing us. In this sense, a direction is shown by our productive thoughts in our mind that always directs us to the correct path of self-progess.

A productive mind is an angel's workshop which spreads the message of goodness every where.
At any stage or age in our life, it is really important to be productive.
Each stage of our life has its own demands and limitations. It should be a life's principle to always keep a productive bent of mind.
Life is to live, love and cherish every moment with a progressive attitude.
The hurdles to cross can be many but a productive mind working for self-growth and improvement shall always cross every hurdle with a smile.
We only have one life to live.
So let us be productive and aim for a super progressive life.

Do not change the Rule Book..

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.

How can it be possible? The possibility of changing rules according to one's choice and convenience. Yes, in personal lives we all are bound with some rules and regulations. They can be spoken or unspoken. Even can be governed by love and affection for maintaining a happy and a cordial environment in the family.
When everyone in the family are performing their assigned duties, they become a valuable contributor in making a beautiful family. Do we realize that when we change the rules according to our wishes and start following the self- centered approach with imposing our opinions, we shatter our own peace and loving bond we were living with. A thin line between respect and fear breaks. We start avoiding each other.
The family which used to smile together becomes an atomic unit. The distance and differences starts building up.

So, let us respect the feelings and freedom of each other. We, as a family should understand each other's pain. We have to be caring not dominating. We have to develop a strong mutual respect for each and every member of the family. Listen, seek advice and be patient towards your loved ones.
A beautiful equilibrium of opinions and suggestions should be maintained for a long time bond of love and affection between every family member.

Love till the end...

After giving your best to the people you love, still sometimes you feel cheated.
The feeling of back stabbing and disregard of your efforts, haunts you. As a human being you feel like a moron. It feels like that your beautiful dream has been shattered in pieces.
Your sincere efforts look like a pure wastage of time.
Your self-esteem and respect is hurt so badly with a heart broken soul.
Your efforts are made fun of by the people for whom you gave your everything with full dedication and devotion.
Life starts looking like a dead end with nothing positive to look forward to.

The darkest and the most horrifying side of your life, where you are left all alone with silent tears.
So, let us feel each other's pain. Let us give regard and respect to people who are working for us effortlessly. May be our true regard to them uplifts their souls.
Life should be lived with a transparent attitude of love, warmth and affection.

Sorry makes or breaks..

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.

'Sorry', is a very strong word. The word which has power to make or break relationships. It is a value based word. This word has to be used very cautiously. Though in general the word which holds such a relevance is used so casually.
We never give a second thought to the importance of word 'sorry'. The day we really appreciate the value of sorry, many problems shall be solved automatically.
As a human being we tend to commit mistakes , but the realisation of that mistake from heart has much more relevance.

'Sorry', which is felt from the heart and becomes a promise to oneself forever is a long time commitment to a positive life.
Let us value the sensitivity of some words and truly adopt what we commit. Realise your mistake and donot hesitate to say a heart felt 'sorry' with a commitment of never repeating the same mistake. Let us understand the true meaning of 'Sorry', otherwise we shall repent later. May be it shall be too late to even say 'sorry.

Game is Over

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.

As a human being if we cannot make someone smile, be sure that we are not making someone sad. Sad to the point that someone is heart broken.
Every human heart has a different level of sensitivity quotient. Some people are easily hurt by someone's insensitive behaviour. Maybe for the person who showed his insensitivity was okay with what he did. But in reality he has shattered someone from inside. The heart screams and requests to be kind and humble to it. The heart speaks that it is paining badly. Oh! I have been hurt. I am crying. Please feel my silent tears. Still that pure, beautiful and pious heart gets no response.
From time and again it gets hurt by the heart which was being selfish and unconcerned.
But what happens in the end. In the end that beautiful heart stops beating. Everything comes to a stand still. Game is over.

Now suddenly that selfish and insensitive heart realise it's mistake. Screams and shouts for the presence of that beautiful heart in his life. But Game is Over.
No response. Only unspoken and silent end. So let us as a human being become sensitive towards even the smallest of things in life.
Let us be thankful to who so ever has truly loved us from pure heart. Let us not do anything for which we shall regret later. Just spread smile and happiness before our 'Game is Over'.

MANGO - THE BIG STAR OF THE EVENT.

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.

(All the photographs and video in this blog have been taken by me and are from my personal collection.)

What a Mangolicious moment on visiting the 30th Mango Festival in New Delhi. More than three hundred varieties of Mangoes were on display.
It was a yummy and tempting treat for the eyes. Mango infact is one of the oldest fruits known to India.

Do we also know that our own country India is known as the 'MANGO CAPITAL of the world'?
India tops the list of Mango-producing countries in the world.
It may also be a surprising fact filled with a feeling of nationalist fervour that India alone grows almost 1500 varieties of Mangoes out of close to 2000 varieties grown the world over.
The sweet, pulpy and juicy aroma of the KING OF FRUITS leaves a heavenly experience for every visitor who comes to witness the glory of this exotic fruit.
The MANGO FESTIVAL was first held in 1988 and is a beautiful platform to witness the unique and large varieties of Mangoes under one roof.

( MANGO FESTIVAL VIDEO BY MY SON OM KUMAR).

Mango growers from across the country including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and many other states displayed the traditional and hybrid varieties of Mangoes.
It felt like a complete journey through hundreds of Mango Orchards, with a unique and refreshing experience.
The lovely Mango was the 'BIG STAR ' of the event and brings refreshing sweetness in our lives.

Pay Back To Society

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.

Recently I was fortunate to be one of the panelists at a reputed and a leading research training center, to share my views and opinions with educationists from various parts of the country.
The topic of discussion 'Gender in Culture', itself is very close to my heart and honestly we need to be more enlightened on this subject.
I had prepared myself well before hand since as an individual I felt that was the time where I had the opportunity of giving back something positive and optimistic to an important section of our society.
I always feel that being a part and parcel of a society, it should be our utmost responsibility and duty to become a productive source by sharing our views which spread a message of strong nation-building by maintaining a well balanced equilibrium in society.

We all are global citizens, who have to work as a unit in any part of the world we are living in.
It is not about 'Me' or 'He'.
It has to be both theoretically and practically about 'We'.
'We' have to think, analyse and take actions according to our personal reach to make a difference towards a positive direction.
One step at a time shall surely change the outlook and attitude in general towards establishing an equality of opportunity, respect and dignity.
It shall in turn surely make a peaceful, productive, progressive, harmonious and a beautiful society to live in.
The society which is self-goverened by discipline, dedication and determination to work as a culturally developed unit.

Good deeds are a personal investment.

Blog by-Dr Jaya Kumar.

We are born as a human being, who has to perform several roles and responsibilities.
The various roles we have to perform in this life are many, but the most important part which we have to play is of being a positive contributor in the society we live in.
For a strong nation building and a happy world, we have to be a person with human principles.
Our responsibilities should be to perform good deeds in any form. Maintaining a friendly and a cordial behaviour with a caring attitude and a helping nature towards society.
Performance of our human role with utmost sincerity and honesty should be our goal.

Our good deeds are the most valuable personal investments in human life.
We develop a faith in positivity and goodness when we are reciprocated with a loving warmth gesture.
When our society stands for us as our own family, we experience a humble and a blessed feeling.
As a person we are never judged by our bank balance but surely we are loved, cared and remembered for our truthful and caring behaviour as an important contributor of society.
The external pleasure of life can be any and many but the internal pleasure is to be loved by many.
So let us be thankful and blessed to be appreciated and cared for our good deeds by the human community.
Let us grow into a much better and improved human being with every passing day, to make this life , a worth living life.
