FLUTE MAESTRO

Blog BY- DR. Jaya Kumar

A few days ago, me and my family went to watch a popular musical concert.
Music has immense power. The power to control your mind by giving internal peace.
We felt this beautiful feeling when we heard one of the living legends of our country perform at that concert.
The legend was Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia who gave a melodious presentation with his flute. He is the flute maestro of India who has made us proud for many years.
The power of his instrument could be felt by everyone. We were mesmerized by his flute's melodious notes that struck a chord inside.
The high and the low notes were well-synchronised.
He became a showman on the stage he held. The glorious age of approaching 80 years was showing on him, but, even at that age, he had the energy of an instrumentalist much younger to him.
He performed like an unstoppable genious. The sound of his flute truly showed his command on his mastership. All could feel his passion, dedication and commitment towards his chosen instrument. Having become a legend in his field over years, we could feel the hard-work he must have put in and his untiring practice.
We wished that the time could stop at that moment as his brilliant performance could not let us even blink our eyes.
We seemed cut-off from the outside world and were enjoying the wonderful world of melodious sounds from the flute.
We could imagine what effect Lord Krishna would have had on the Gopis using the same simple flute.

Flute as an instrument seems to have some cosmic powers too. Every musical note produced by it relaxes the mind and re-energizes the body.
Indian classical instruments have a power of their own.
Our son, who is also a young emerging classical instrumentalist, could connect to the beautiful presentation as well.
He too, felt fortunate to witness a live performance by the living legend himself.
When Panditji ended his performance, everyone gave him a well-deserved standing ovation. He had achieved heights in his field by his true devotion. He had put his heart in what he did and that is what we felt everyone should surely learn from him.
His true dedication towards his art deserved to be well-appreciated.
We felt blessed to have such an extraordinary and a blissful experience...

LIVING LEGEND

Blog By- Dr Jaya Kumar

'Sometimes you meet such people in your lives whose words touch your heart forever and become a source of motivation for you.' I experienced this at an event sometime back.
It was a day when me, my husband and our son had gone to one of the prestigious golf clubs in the city.
We had gone to witness an international golf tournament.
Top golfers from around the  world were participating to exhibit their skills for the title.
Watching their moves  closely was a great experience for us.

As we were about to leave the club after the game, I saw a glimpse of a personality that made us stop.
The person who I saw was  a tall turbaned elderly man.  Though he was aged, his face was glowing with confidence and pride.
It seemed even at the age that he was, he looked a tough competition to the people much younger to him.
He presented himself as a person who could truly be a source of inspiration for many. The person in front of us was the living legend of Indian athletics, 'The Flying Sikh'.
He was sitting in the recreation area of the club enjoying his evening with a group of his friends.
As we stood there watching him, one of the club officials  approached us to assist and asked us if we were waiting to meet someone. I instantly said yes were. I told him that we were waiting to meet the legend of Indian sports but did not wish to disturb him in the middle of the game he was enjoying with his friends.
He asked me if we knew him personally. There was no personal connection with him but I replied smilingly, 'Not only me, the whole country knows him'.
He smiled back hearing that.
My husband then, very gently, handed over his visiting card along with a note for the legend that we wished to seek his blessings for our son.
We requested the official to hand over our note to the legend himself. The official went inside the room with the note and returned soon with a message that he would come out of that formal area to meet us soon. I was eagerly waiting for him and was very excited to be with the legend himself.
Soon we saw the legend himself walking gracefully towards us.
We as a family, paid our regards to him. He too greeted us and smilingly kept his loving and strong athletic hands on my young son's head and spoke in a very gentle voice.
He said that as a child it is understood that one has to make one's parents and family be proud of oneself. But, our utmost duty and aim should be to make our country too be proud of ourself. With true dedication and firm commitment, anyone can achieve that.
Talking to us and bestowing his blessings, he gave us a mantra of life to remember. He said," Always remember to try to be a good human being and that the national pride should be our focus in our life". After spending sometime with us, he left us
with a smile and wished us lots of success and luck for the future.
Those moments became moments of pride for us. His golden words made a mark in our hearts which were memorable and to be cherished.
My son is still very young as a child, but whenever people ask him about what he wishes to become when he grows up, he always confidently and proudly replies that he only wishes to be a good human being with a vision to make the whole country proud of him.
The golden words said by and the blessings given by the living legend himself, motivated us so much that they shall remain with us in our memories forever.

LIFE IS FULL OF SURPRISES

Blog By- Dr Jaya Kumar.

Life has many surprises for us in store. Many a times, we are forced to think about the different happenings around us.
At every step a big surprise awaits us. The biggest surprise to my eyes is the behavioural change in attitude of people.
People always want to change you according to their wishes and fancies, but surely neither they want to change themselves nor want to improvise as human beings.
No one is ready to accept the truth. People keep trying  to prove you guilty despite knowing your innocence.
With your success becoming a reality, people around you are sometimes  not ready to accept it. But for themselves, they always want you to appreciate even their small victories.
They keep enjoying even when you are not so happy as if nothing note-worthy had happened.

This comes as a big surprise for me.
Ironically and contrary to a usual behaviour, sometimes when you want people around you to share your joys and successes, you do not see anyone standing.
Then if you question them the reason for their absence a bigger surprise follows.
That surprise is a Big Dead-Silence. Such silence some times even exhibited by people whom you call your own family and loved ones.
People outside your close circle may many a times become more supportive and understanding. On the other hand insiders too could hurt your inner soul and choose to remain silent.
Only a big surprise and a deep dead silence follows.

SHARING A POEM WHICH I WROTE A FEW DAYS BACK.

*LIFE IS FULL OF SURPRISES*

Oh!  My Life you give me surprise,
Every time I step out,
A surprise awaits me with a smile.
Surprise of joy and fear,
Grips me everywhere.
Happy with the love around,
But surprise due to betrayal and trust.
Happy that am appreciated by many,
Surprise that you also get rejected and dejected,
Surprise that you are surrounded by loved ones,
Surprise that in reality no one loves as loved ones.
Happy for your own success you can smell,
Surprise that your success is not taken well.
You were happy for everyone' s success for sure,
Surprise, they were indifferent when you reached heights galore.
Your eyes were almost filled with tears,
Forgetting this people were happily saying 'Cheers'....

EMOTIONS HAVE AN IMPACT

Blog by- Dr. Jaya Kumar

An emotion is such a strong and a beautiful feeling.
It is expressed in no words but only with an in-depth feeling.
A feeling which moves you and touches your heart and soul.

Even when you are not responding consciously, the emotions filled inside you do show up. They show what is going on in your mind.

Even if you do not want to react sometimes, the emotions show up on their own. You wish to hide them but they show. They show your happiness. They also show your feeling of anger. Emotions reflect your attachment as well.
Emotions have their own big impact.
They are very powerful and effective and leave a strong impression.

An emotional person has an internal pain which cannot be seen by others. The pain can also be due to backstabbing sometimes. When the true emotions are not valued, life becomes a tough journey.
But I feel, why should one become an emotional person for everyone?
Emotions should only be respected and not tested. No one has the right to play with anyone's emotions, that too, again and again.
We are born as a distinct and an independent identity.
So let us try to be like that all our life. We should have a mission to achieve and a passion to fulfil.
It is true that an emotion is not an illusion but is a reality. It is the reaction of our mind which is sometimes deeply touched by certain incidents.
But why should we ever think of the negative happenings?
Let us focus our energies on the future projects of our lives. Let us prove our worth.
Let us relish the concept that we are good human beings with golden hearts that beat with emotions.
So, let your emotions flow freely. Emotions can be any and many but the most important thing to remember is your honesty in all your emotions.
Emotions are not to please anyone but are basically a replica of your psychological state of mind. Therefore, never attempt to hide them.

AN EMOTION IS NOT ONLY AN EXPRESSION BUT A FEELING THAT TOUCHES EVERY TRUE HEART.....

APPRECIATION

Blog BY- DR Jaya Kumar.

Appreciation makes you and criticism breaks you. Appreciation energises you. It fills your body with a solid positivity. It acts as a ladder on which you want to climb every moment.

Appreciation is for all age groups. If we observe deeply, a kind word of appreciation boosts our morale. Appreciation for a child brings a sense of responsibility in him or her to do much better than before.

For older people appreciation sometimes becomes the reason of survival, the reason to feel wanted in the society.

The younger generation loves appreciation at several points of time to make them realise their value and worth in other's eyes. Even a few words of appreciation for the people you are associated with, makes your bonding strong with them.

People shall surely love and respect your personality which appreciates everyone whole heartedly. The result shall also surely be good for you in all senses if you develop this beautiful habit of appreciation.

A person who does not envy can appreciate selflessly. He values everything and is able to speak nice words.

In a true sense, a person who appreciates the glory and worth of life can appreciate everything. So, let us become that person who appreciates the value and worth of this life, people and things around us. We understand very well that if we are appreciated by others we feel elated.
Let us spread appreciation and encouragement by making people feel important and happy getting recognized for even their smallest of efforts.

APPRECIATE WHOLEHEARTEDLY, AS YOU NEVER KNOW,THAT SOMEONE MIGHT BE WAITING FOR YOUR APPRECIATION.......

PINEAPPLE ICE-CREAM

Touching Story By- Dr Jaya Kumar

Neha the protagonist of my stories has always been a very social and a sober person. She has a deep sense of respect for the people who value things, big or small.
Neha goes into the minutest of details herself. Her approach towards life has always been value-oriented.
'One can enjoy the sweetness of life only if one values life'. Neha has always believed in and lived by this philosophy of life.

My today's story-'Pineapple ice-cream'.
One day, Neha was enjoying ice cream with her son Hari. While having her preferred flavour of ice-cream, she suddenly had tears in her eyes. Seeing this, Hari felt that there must be some touching incident which had come to his mother's mind which made her lose tears.
Hari over years, has realised that his mother is a really sentimental and an emotional person.
He very lovingly asked her mother to share the incident which made her emotional.
Neha then started narrating the incident. This incident was of the time when Neha was pursuing her higher studies.
Neha being a polite and a smiling girl was everyone's favourite.
Even her neighbours used to love and appreciate her sincerity. In her neighbourhood, lived one Mr. Brijesh, a very senior officer in the same organisation where Neha's father too worked.
Neha used to address Mr. Brijesh as uncle. Mr. Brijesh was not only her father's colleague but also her neighbour.
Mr. Brijesh had two sons but no daughter. He used to therefore like and love Neha like his own daughter.
Neha too had a special regard for Mr.Brijesh.
One day Neha and her Brijesh uncle met at a society's function over lunch.
Mr. Brijesh discussed with Neha very affectionately about her choice of food, especially the sweet-dish, as they both were having sweet-dish at that time of the conversation.
The conversation ended on a happy note. A few days later, Neha had some work in the area which was near her Brijesh uncle's office. She therefore requested him to take her along and drop her near his office.
Mr. Brijesh lovingly accepted her request and agreed to drop her. He thereafter invited Neha to have lunch with him at his office after she finished her work.
Neha agreed.
After finishing her work, she called up her Brijesh uncle to inform him that she was waiting for him at the lower level of his office building.
He came down to the lower level immediately to receive Neha. Neha felt really touched at his this nice and caring gesture.
After all, her Brijesh uncle was a busy man as the regional head of the  organisation he worked for.
After receiving her, as they walked together towards his office, Mr. Brijesh smilingly and very proudly told his office staff- "Today I shall have lunch with my daughter."
Everyone too welcomed Neha very affectionately. This was another touching moment for Neha. Mr. Brijesh instructed his office-boy to arrange for the lunch in his lunch-area.

As a personality, Mr. Brijesh was a very humble, decent and a down-to-earth person. Neha had a special regard for him.
While the office boy was arranging for lunch, Mr. Brijesh very amusingly  shared his views with Neha and told her that life should be guided by the philosophy of 'Tit for Tat'. With those who are good, be good. irrespective of their position and status. On the other hand, for people who try to mess-up with you, just pay them back with the same kind treatment as done by them.
It was his success mantra that he was sharing with Neha that day.
The lunch was ready shortly and it had a big surprise for Neha. All the dishes laid out for lunch were of Neha's choice.
Mr.Brijesh told Neha that he still remembered her food choices even though it was discussed many days ago. Neha got emotional on his this gesture.
After the main course was over, Mr. Brijesh asked his office boy to bring the sweetdish.
After seeing sweetdish display, Neha could not control her emotions and tears rolled down her eyes.
Those were the tears of joy. The sweetdish had a Pineapple ice cream, a Pineapple cake, a Pineapple pastry and a Pineapple  shake. Every sweetdish displayed on the table had Pineapple in it. Pineapple was Neha's favourite flavour.
Neha's Brijesh uncle told her very lovingly that only four varieties of sweetdish were available in her favourite flavour, else he would have ordered even more varieties  of sweetdishes.
Neha had no words. Only joyful tears.
It was a really sweet, memorable lunch which Neha had with her late Brijesh uncle. He had left for his heaven abode, a few years after that day.
Brijesh uncle's family later told Neha that even while on his death bed he remembered the lovely and memorable lunch he had with his daughter Neha and her favourite flavour Pineapple.
May Brijesh uncle's soul rest in peace.
That was memories forever of the 'Pineapple ice cream'.
NEHA TOLD HARI THAT SOMETIMES SOME MEMORIES BECOME MEMORABLE FOREVER.
THE RELATIONS WHICH HAVE TRUE ATTACHMENT ARE CHERISHED FOREVER..
LOVE IS A BEAUTIFUL FEELING WHICH IS FELT FROM ONE'S LOVING ACT...
Neha still enjoys the pineapple flavour which her Brijesh uncle too remembered so dearly till the end of his life....

VALUE OF GANESH CHATURTHI

Blog by- Dr. Jaya Kumar

A huge public procession with music and groups chanting mantras. Lights, sounds, festival and fervour was all around when me and my family visited Hyderabad during this time last year.
Chanting of the beautiful name of 'Ganapati Bappa' was resounding everywhere. Beautifully decorated idols of the Lord of Arts and Science and the God of Wisdom 'Ganesha' was being taken in processions in well-decorated trucks.
The auspicious occasion of 'Ganesh Chaturthi' was being celebrated with full colours and reverence.
This is a ten day Hindu festival celebrated to honour the ELEPHANT-headed God Ganesha's Birthday.
'Ganesha' is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Ma Parvati.

At the beginning of this festival, both Parvati and Shiva are worshipped by all for their blessings.
Shiva, the Lord of Power. Shiva, the God of Majesty.
Shiva, the Almighty whose existance is because of his beloved Parvati. It is with her Shakti that He becomes the epitome of power.

Likewise in our lives, with your loved one on your side, your inherent inner powers and strengths too can be realised beautifully. The odds and the evils of our lives can also be fought if the pillar of our life is with us.
The ups and downs, joys and sorrows, pleasures and pains, everything is a part and parcel of our life. The only thing to remember and that what matters is that Shiva is nothing without Shakti and Shakti is Shakti because her Shiva is there for her in all her thick and thin.
THEREFORE, VALUE THE BOND WE SHARE WITH OUR BELOVED LIFE PARTNER.
Value their presence. That is what the worship of Shiva-Shakti should teach us.
'Ganapati or Vinayaka' as he is referred to by his devotees is also known by 108 other names. This festival is marked by beginning with installation of an idol of Lord Ganesha which includes chanting of Vedic Hymns from Hindu Texts. The festival ends with the immersion of the idol of the Lord in a water body.

This is done with a hope that our Lord shall be happy with our special treatment that we met to Him and He shall bestow His blessings on us.
This majestic festival makes us realise many things. It makes us realise the VALUE OUR CHILDREN WHO TOO HAVE AN INTELLECTUAL BEND OF MIND FOR WHICH THEY DESERVE OUR SPECIAL RESPECT....
This festival makes us VALUE THE PURIFICATION POWERS OF WATER TOO AND THAT IT IS PRECIOUS... NOT TO BE WASTED... NOT EVEN A SINGLE DROP...
It teaches us to respect OUR LIFE PARTNER REALISING THAT THE
UPS AND DOWNS ARE A PART AND PARCEL OF LIFE
BUT RESPECT AND UNDERSTANDING WITH YOUR SOUL-MATE IS VERY IMPORTANT...
Lastly, this festival also teaches us a lesson for life that ONE DECISION SOMETIMES TAKEN IN HASTE CAN ALSO EFFECT SOMEONE'S LIFE FOREVER...
PARVATI IS SHAKTI AND SHE DEMANDED RESPECT FOR HER SON 'GANESHA', FROM THE POWERFUL LORD SHIVA..
BUT, WE BEING HUMANS,
LET US ASK LORD SHIVA WITH HIS SHAKTI TO ALWAYS KEEP HIS LOVING HANDS OVER US SO THAT OUR LIFE TOO REMAINS BLISSFUL FROM THE BEGINNING TILL THE END...
WISHING A VERY HAPPY 'GANESH CHATURTHI' WITH LOTS OF SWEETNESS AND ENLIGHTENMENT FOR ALL....

A RELATIONSHIP IS NOT A TEST SO WHY CHEAT?

Blog by- Dr. Jaya Kumar

Human beings are a really complicated species to understand. Sometimes, I feel that we need many more lives to understand and analyse the complexities of the human behaviour.
Though at a broader macro level, we know that our existence has no value, but on the other hand, at a micro level, we are busy playing our own games.
Games to let others down or make them feel down in life. On the face though, we try to prove or show that we are innocent and not know what is happening around us. Strange it is, but true.
We even deliberately try to double-cross each other at times and try that the other person is not able to understand our unwanted and unwarranted game plan. We even try to make sure that the other person never speaks on that issue.
We pull down someone's morale not by accident but by choice and mostly without purpose.

We keep cheating someone but still try to keep a face reflecting honesty.
Feeling jealous but still exhibiting false appreciation.
Why do we do this as a human being? Do we think and believe that the other person is simply a fool? Why do we let down our own relations?
Do we think that we are too smart and we shall come out of this without being caught?
The answer is big NO.
This attitude shall not only ruin relationships but as person you shall also loose someone's love and support. Someone who really cared for you.
Someone who knew you well but kept quiet and always smiled because of sheer attachment.
We sometimes become too attached and sentimental for many people in our lives but time shows us that it is both not relevant or required.

We also sometimes attach ourselves to the situations and people so much so that we often neglect ourselves.

The general philosophy of life says that we should act and behave according to our own convenience first.

This may look like a self-centered approach, but in fact has to do more with self-respect and is more calculative and thoughtful.

Sometimes we have to acknowledge the practical reality of life.

That only what is practically correct according to us and convenient to us, should be followed.

Sometimes we have to act smartly as it seems more beneficial given the situation. A true human being shall always be true and honest till the end of his life.
He does not have to worry. He shall be associated with similar good human beings later in life.
I feel it is better to be associated and attached to one true relation than to have hundreds of dishonest relationships.

Our personal convenience also matters in such conditions. So, think twice before any action or making any move.

Our one correct personal  decision could be better than what all others think.

SO, OUR CONVENIENCE DOES MATTER, RESPECT IT..
WE SHOULD BE CONCERNED AND ANSWERABLE TO ONLY THAT PERSON WHO IS REALLY ATTACHED TO US AND PROVES IT BY HIS LOVING TREATMENT TOWARDS US.

LIFE IS A MYSTERY

Blog by- Dr. Jaya Kumar.

Oh Life! you are so beautiful. But, sometimes you are too harsh for us to handle too.
Life is very long to be explained completely and too short to be understood as to why are we on this planet.

Why are we born here? What is the purpose of our life here?
Life is a very complex journey. During this journey at times, the complexities of life increase so much that we see no direction in which to go to and no path to continue to travel upon.
We are not able to find answers to our unsolved questions that keep emerging throughout our life.
What we just have with us is our life which we have to lead, pass, live or enjoy in all the situations presented to us.

Happiness and sadness go hand in hand. Likewise struggle and success too are inter-related to each other. We are bound to face all this in our life.

Everyone's life of being in this world has its own mystery. This mystery gets solved or remains unsolved, depends on our perception as to how we look at our lives.

So, as humans, we have to appoint our own self as our life detective and solve the mystery of our life in our own way.

One can take help from others or fight it out alone, but, we have to continue to fight it till the end.

If we are fortunate to solve the mystery of life, we attain bliss.

Else, we just continue to lead our life or just live it through.

IT REALLY REMAINS A MYSTERY TILL WE SOLVE IT...
WISHING A SATISFYING LIFE FOR ALL...

RELATIONSHIPS

Story by- Dr. Jaya Kumar.

Once upon a time there was a young man who was always very happy and joyful. He was happy because he was always surrounded by his near and dear ones.

He thought that all loved him because he loved them all. He felt fortunate that he had so many people with whom he could share his joy.

As time passed, he realised that not everyone thinks on the same lines as he thought.

Everyone is so busy in their own world that they do not have time to think about other's happiness or feelings. He then, started feeling disappointed and dejected on seeing this.

There were so many relatives around him but no 'real' relations.

As time passed, with all his hard work and efforts, he became popular and famous. What had happened? The wind of life had changed its direction.

Suddenly, everyone started responding and associating to him with appreciation for him for his worth.

Seeing all this sudden change, he was confused. He realised that he himself was the same as always, but now that he had become popular, things and perception of people towards him had changed.

He was still happy for the reason that whatever the situations might have been, they brought his relationships closer to him, even though they had not been fair.

Let us not wait for the winds to change their direction. In relationships, everyone knows everyone inside out. Let us be true to every relationship we are in and be happy for everyone which brings in much more happiness.

BE TRUE AND REAL WITH ALL RELATIONS YOU ARE ATTACHED TO..

TIME

Blog by- Dr. Jaya Kumar.

Time and tide wait for none. Time which is the most precious part of our life is not to be wasted for even a single second. It has to be constantly utilised to the fullest.
As a human being we are so fortunate that we have a source that is of constant inspiration to us. That source is Time.

While time acts as an inspiration, it is also very simple to understand. According to my understanding, everyone gets time to improve. To improve ourselves, our not-so-good relations, our understandings, our approach and perspectives towards different things in life. Above all, time gives us a chance to prove our worth and the purpose of living.

But, we have to make one promise to ourselves and the time that we have with us, and that is, to be sincere, honest and true in whatever we do.
With full dedication and commitment, we have to fulfil our responsibilities of life within a given frame of  time.
Time may bless us and give us opportunities to change this world for good. It may also give us a chance to lead a life which is purposeful, fruitful and useful.

MAY TIME BLESS US ALL......

ILLUSION

Blog by- Dr. Jaya Kumar.

Sometimes it is good that we live in a world which is so beautiful, perfect, loving and exactly what we thought it to be.

Relationships improve and everything becomes lively. Every human life becomes an open book which has only true chapters in it.

Sometimes even without uttering a single word the other person knows what is going on  inside our brain. The world where emotions and feelings are respected.

The world where we think before we act or speak. Where no one is fake. Everything is fantastic. But is it possible? The answer is a big NO.

This must only be AN ILLUSION.

An illusion that we shall live a happy life always.

An illusion that everything shall be fine.

An illusion that everyone is or will be like us.

An illusion that we shall live this type of life atleast once.

So let us come out of this illusion and face the true reality of life. Life is not only a bed of roses but also has several thorns.

We may be thinking of changing the world and the world might be thinking of changing us.

So good or bad, positive or negative and real or fake. It is only us who can come out of this illusion. To decide within ourselves as to which path to follow and what to become.

FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND RESPECT YOUR DESIRE....

Thank you for reading.....

NEEDLE AND THREAD

Blog by- Dr.Jaya Kumar.

Sometimes, two things when used together, become a medium much greater and worthwhile to help others. They even become a source which helps us to make our lives easy.

They save us from facing embarrassing moments of life.

Such strong is the bond between a steel needle and a flexible thread. Their combination is a classic example which teaches us so many things.

If we see someone using both a needle and a thread, our first thought would be that the person is stitching something.

But, if we observe a little more minutely, we will realise that beyond the obvious, it is the combination of both the needle and the thread which is trying to bring the torn or unattached pieces together.

This could be done to either beautify us or to rescue us. Rescue us from facing the embarrassing moments of having to wear torn clothes.

Their magical combination makes even a simple cloth turn into a show-stopper dress. The complete attire looks awesome when stitched properly.

Sometimes despite putting hundreds of jewels on a dress, it may not look good and elegant without good stitching.

The quality of the needle should also be good, else it would break midway or would leave a rusted mark. It would ruin the beauty of the cloth.

Similarly, on the other hand, the thread should also be strong, otherwise it would make our task even more difficult.

In our lives, our brain is like this needle. It should be kept sharp and determined to focus on things which would beautify our lives. The thread is like our correct and focused thinking which is used to concentrate on tasks that are assigned to us.

It is the combination of both  that should work for our development and growth.

To make us better every new day. To make us more sensitive, mature, sensible and responsible. Thus creating a perfect masterpiece and becoming a show-stopper in our lives.

ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING AROUND US CAN TEACH US. LET US BE READY TO LEARN........

WHAT IS WRONG IS WRONG

Blog by- Dr. Jaya Kumar

What will others feel? What will happen if I do this? What about my relationships? Why me? Will I myself become a victim of the wrong-doings done by others around me?

These are some of the questions and thoughts which cross our minds when we have to stand against something that we think is wrong.

In fact, if we believe that the word 'wrong' itself has a limitless definition, we might not be right. It changes its meaning with situations. Something may be wrong for some of us but could also be right for many others. It is the perspective that we all have in our minds.

We sometimes also present a number of excuses and reasons to prove our point.

To have a view-point on any issue is surely a sign of strength, but to try to prove oneself at any cost may not be justified.

We should remember that sometimes the victim of a wrong-doing is already physically, mentally and emotionally broken and your support and stand on his side may give him encouragement and a ray of hope.

After all, we all know in our hearts what is right and what is wrong. We too can be wrong in many things, many times. So think, and do not hesitate to stand even against your own self if required.

If we start doing this, only then in the true sense, we would have the power to stand against all wrong happenings around us.

Develop a habit of regularly evaluating yourself and the courage to stand against your wrong-doings too. If ignored, you yourself shall surely become a victim, sooner or later.

IT IS WITHIN US, WHO KNOWS THE DEFINITION OF WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG. SO LET US ALL TRY NOT TO WRONG OURSELVES................

THE BUS JOURNEY

Story by- Dr. Jaya Kumar

Neha, our protagonist, always believes in justice. As a human being, we have to have a justified and a logical approach in our lives.
Neha has always stood for justice since her young days. Justice should be fair and done for all, Neha believes.
Neha has always been fearless. That comes because of her sincerity and honesty she puts in everything she does.
Neha and her son Hari were once travelling in state-road transport bus when she started narrating an incident from her college days to Hari.
Today's story -' THE BUS JOURNEY'.
The story goes back to the time when Neha was still studying in a college. She had joined the college only a few days back then.
On that particular day too, Neha was travelling in a bus. But the difference was, the bus she was traveling on then, was owned by a private operator.
In private buses that time, college students used to say a particular word and no ticket collector dared to ask for ticket from them again.
But, in general understanding, this 'special privilege' was a bit gender-biased and could only be used by boys. The bus staff would also very smilingly allow all the college boys travelling in their buses to use this by acknowledging the word 'Staff'.
'Staff' word was all it took to be said for the boys to travel free in any of the private buses running around their college.
When Neha came to know about this, she felt very unfair on the part of the private operators.
Reading in daily newspapers about the way private operator buses used to break traffic rules and the bus staff's rude behaviour with daily commuters, they 'deserved' this treatment meted out to them by the college students, everyone felt.
In fact, because of the fear instilled by the college students, the private buses used to run 'under control', all thought.

Ever since Neha had joined college, she used to travel by the state-operated transport bus only. But on that particular day, due to strike by the state transport department, she had no option but to make her journey on a private bus.
So, as she boarded the bus, a group of college boys too boarded from the same stop.
Soon, they in a commanding and a loud voice, said 'Staff'. The bus conductor acknowledged them too with a big smile.
Then the bus conductor came to Neha and asked her to buy her ticket. Neha too politely said 'Staff'.
The bus conductor looked very surprised and started laughing at Neha.
A woman who was sitting on a seat ahead of her too made fun of Neha and informed her that only college boys were 'allowed' to travel without ticket and not the girls.
Girls too, never dared to say 'staff'. After listening to the woman, the bus conductor too felt happy that Neha is being ridiculed for saying 'staff', and that too by a woman.
The bus conductor asked Neha to either 'quietly' take the ticket or deboard the bus.
Neha stood up and told the bus conductor again that she was ready to buy the travel ticket but only if her fellow college boys too bought one for themselves.
The bus conductor denied this emphatically. The woman, who had acted strangely to this issue, too felt victorious and added to the conductor's words.
Seeing this, Neha, now in a very commanding voice, first, asked that woman to keep quiet on the issue and suggested that if one cannot behave justified in their approach, it is better for one to be silent.
'It is not necessary to poke your nose in everything', has been Neha's philosophy in life.
One should always stand for justice and equality, Neha told the woman. She understood that and apologised for her rude behaviour.
Neha was voicing not only for gender equality, but, was also talking about correct decision-making.
Hearing this, suddenly all eyes were on Neha. Neha politely asked the bus conductor to stop the bus. He was surprised hearing that request and asked Neha as to why did she want that.
Neha amusingly but with full confidence, told him that she wanted to break the headlights of the bus. The bus conductor was taken aback and was frightened.
An honest person is always fearless, Neha believes and proved it too that day.
The bus conductor was so scared on hearing what Neha had confidently said that he assuringly told her that she could travel free in his bus whenever she wanted to, in future.
That was the story of the 'Bus Journey'.
Hari too was surprised hearing this story. "Do not worry son, your mother never intended to break the headlights of that bus". Neha smilingly told Hari.
Neha then shared the moral of the story with Hari.
