CHHATH PUJA - SALUTATION TO THE SUN

Blog By-Dr Jaya Kumar

Morning salutation to the Sun brings a new energy in our body and enlightens our soul.

Worshipping the Sun early in the morning is an ancient Hindu Vedic ritual followed and practised by many.

The festival of Chhath-Puja is also dedicated to the Sun God and 'Chhathi Maiyya' known as Usha in the Vedas.
Usha is the first light of day and believed to be the beloved wife of the Sun God.

Chhath-Puja is popularly celebrated in the regions and by the people of Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttarpradesh. It is also celebrated in different countries like Nepal, Mauritius, Fiji and many more.

It is a festival to thank the natural power of the Sun for bestowing its blessings on Earth with a request to fullfill our wishes.

Chhath-Puja is observed for four days which is marked by offering the prayers to the Sun God, fasting and taking holy dips.

Scientifically too, it is very beneficial for the human body as it helps to get rid of toxicity.

Exposing one's body to the sun provides natural vitamin D and improves the overall functioning of the human body.

Sun worship is believed to cure many diseases and helps ensure longivity of life.

Sun is energy and a life force which is worshipped to promote the well-being of humanity and bring in prosperity and progress.

The words and views expressed in my blogs are personal and are my original work of thoughts.
